Conor Francis Macis is a PhD Candidate at the University of Bristol Law School, whose doctoral thesis is entitled "A Critical Analysis of Global Health Law, in the Case Study of Antimicrobial Resistance". This critical analysis utilises and develops neo-Gramscian ideas related to globalisation, law, and the philosophy of praxis to situate global health law within the neoliberal world order. Specifically, the processes of globalisation and juridification are presented as both opening and limiting possibilities for the pursuit of global health. Antimicrobial resistance is taken as a pertinent case study to explore this critical analysis as well as the potential for a counter-hegemonic strategy.
More broadly, Conor is interested in legal and political theory, especially as it relates to global health, global health justice, global health governance, and global health law.
